Man stabbed in Northwest DC, surveillance footage shows assailant on the run

An adult man was stabbed Friday, May 17, in Northwest D.C., according to Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) officials.

At approximately 1:57 a.m., MPD officials responded to the 400 block of 2nd and D streets NWin in response to the report of a stabbing.

The victim claims he was breaking up a fight between the suspect and a third party when the suspect stabbed him in the back, according to court documents. The victim then reported having defended himself by hitting his attacker, who still had a knife in his hand, with a wooden board. After being hit with the board, the attacker fled.

MPD was called to the scene shortly after the incident. The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment of his non-life-threatening knife wound.

Surveillance footage captured the suspect.
