Man stabbed his father multiple times at his New Jersey home, police say

A man was arrested Wednesday after being accused of stabbing his father at a Middlesex County home, police said.

The father was stabbed multiple times at a home on Buttonwood Drive in East Brunswick, then fled to a home in Sayreville before being taken to a local hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, according to a press release from the East Brunswick Police Department.

Sayreville Police contacted the East Brunswick Police Department at 2:08 p.m. regarding the incident. Officers identified Heng Shao, 40, of East Brunswick, as the suspect, authorities said.

Officers said Shao, the son of the man who was stabbed, fled the home in a silver Honda Accord, investigators said.

Shao was then located at the Menlo Park Mall in Edison where he was arrested and charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault, terroristic threats and weapons offenses, the department said. He was then committed to the Middlesex County Adult Correctional Center.

The stabbing remains under investigation, police said.
