Man shot in Compton identified, suspect on the loose

A 30-year-old man was shot and killed Friday in Compton.

The fatal shooting occurred around 6:25 a.m. Friday in the 2200 block of West 153rd Street, near Bursch Elementary School, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

The victim suffered a gunshot wound to the upper body. He was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the department.
