Man shot in alley near Chittick Field, Long Beach police say • Long Beach Post News

Long Beach police said they are investigating the killing of a man who was shot in an alley near Chittick Field Wednesday afternoon.

Police said the shooting was reported around 1:25 p.m. in the 1800 block of Gardenia Avenue. Detectives believe the victim was standing in an alley when another man approached him on foot and shot him in the upper body, according to the Long Beach Police Department.

When police arrived, they provided first aid to the victim, but he died at the scene, according to police, who have not yet released his name.

The shooter left before officers arrived, police said.

Police are still trying to determine the motive for the murder. A description of the suspect was not immediately released.
