A man is dead and a woman is seriously injured after a shooting in Bryan County Friday. At approximately 9:15 p.m., Bryan County 911 received a call in reference to a domestic dispute in progress at an address on Sunbury Drive in Richmond Hill. , Georgia. Around 9:30 p.m., BCSO said the victim called 911 and said he was shot at least three times, once in the arm and once in both legs. When law enforcement arrived, a perimeter was established and officers began evacuating homes adjacent to the home. Shortly after, BCSO said contact was made with the offender and negotiations began. BCSO said the offender told the negotiator he was heavily armed and if law enforcement approached the home, he would shoot them. After negotiating with the offender for some time, BCSO said the offender decided he would allow medical personnel into the home. , help the victim and remove them from the home. At that point, two combat-trained Bryan County EMS medics, escorted by a law enforcement officer, approached the home. BCSO said the offender allowed medics into the home and medics were able to get the victim out. The victim was transferred to a waiting ambulance and then taken to Memorial Hospital in Savannah. Once the victim was removed from his home, negotiations resumed with the offender. BCSO said the offender continued to refuse to comply with law enforcement orders to leave the house unarmed and with his hands in the air. After several hours of negotiations, SWAT command decided to fire tear gas at the residence. After some time, SWAT command decided to enter the house. BCSO said the Georgia State Patrol SWAT team entered the home and found the offender dead in an upstairs bedroom from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
