Man seriously injured in head-on stabbing collision in Northeast Portland

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A man is in the hospital with serious injuries after driving with a stab wound, ultimately causing a head-on crash in Northeast Portland early Friday evening.

Just before 5:30 p.m., officers responded to Northeast 102nd Avenue and Sacramento Street, finding two cars had been involved in a head-on collision and one of the drivers had suffered a serious stab wound.


Police soon learned the driver, a 56-year-old man, had been stabbed elsewhere and was driving while injured, before swerving into oncoming traffic before crashing.

The man was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries and had to be stabilized in the emergency room, according to authorities.

His prognosis has not been revealed at this time.

The other driver was also injured, but authorities say he did not need to be hospitalized.

The incident is currently under investigation and no arrests have been made, according to PPB.

No further information has been released at this time.
