Man sentenced to prison for road rage incident in Naples

A man has been sentenced to two years in prison for a road rage incident that led to gunfire in Naples. On May 23, 2023, police responded to the incident near US-41 and Myrtle Terrace. According to Naples police, Amaziah Garland Nelson, 45, got into a verbal altercation that turned physical. Nelson allegedly got out of his truck and hit the other driver. He then got back into his vehicle and intentionally crashed into the other driver's vehicle. A passenger in the victim's vehicle fired several shots at Nelson as he fled the scene. On February 2, Nelson was booked into prison for aggravated assault in the road rage case. , and for his involvement in an assault and battery case against a law enforcement officer in 2022. Charges against the passenger who fired his weapon were not upheld after further investigation, said the FMPD.

Charges against the passenger who fired his weapon were dismissed after further investigation, FMPD said.
