Man sentenced to prison for inciting women into prostitution by hosting dinner parties

LANSING, MI – A Michigan man has been sentenced to up to 10 years in prison for crimes related to the sex trafficking of numerous women, authorities said.

Alexzonder Rodriguez, 34, was sentenced Friday, June 28, to 36 months to 10 years in prison by Wayne County Circuit Court Judge Darnella Williams Claybourne, according to a news release from Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel.

Rodriguez, of Detroit, pleaded guilty in April to two counts of accepting earnings from prostitution and one count of transportation for the purpose of prostitution.

Authorities said Rodriguez ran a criminal enterprise involving the prostitution and sex trafficking of at least five victims, including women from Detroit, Kimball and Port Huron.

From February 2021 to June 2022, Rodriguez would arrange dinner parties to attract women, then he would escalate those arrangements to include regular commercial sex, authorities said.

According to the attorney general's office, evidence showed that Rodriguez orchestrated the sex trade, arranged transportation for the victims and kept the majority of the proceeds.

“Human trafficking is a horrific crime that devastates lives,” Nessel said in a statement. “Today's sentence sends a strong message that those who choose to exploit others will be held accountable. I commend the diligent efforts of the FBI Southeast Michigan Trafficking and Exploitation Crimes Task Force, which helped secure this sentence and bring freedom to the victims.

Rodriguez is listed on the Michigan sex offender registry. He was convicted of assault with intent to commit criminal sexual penetration in 2009 in St. Clair County, and again in 2016 in Sanilac County, according to the registry.
