Man sentenced to 25 years to life in prison for fatally stabbing military veteran in Nevada County

A man was sentenced Monday to 25 years to life in prison for the 2020 murder of another man, according to the Nevada County District Attorney's Office. On October 8, 2020, Michael Stine stabbed Shelby Comeaux II to death at a property in the southern part of the county. The prosecutor's office called Stine's actions “senseless and cold-blooded” and presented the jury with cellphone audio that captured portions of the incident, as well as eyewitness accounts. “Shelby Comeaux II was tragically taken too soon,” the prosecutor’s office said. said in a statement. “He will be greatly missed by his friends, fellow veterans and family, including his sister.” The prosecutor's office said Comeaux's sister also made a statement during sentencing.
