MADISON (WKOW) — A Dane County judge sentenced a Minnesota man to 20 years in prison following his 2005 sexual assault conviction on a bike path in Madison.

A jury found Aidison Yang, 43, of Eagan, Minnesota, guilty of three counts of first-degree sexual assault by use of a dangerous weapon in February 2024.

Court records show Yang will spend 20 years in prison, followed by 20 years of extended supervision for the crime.

“I am grateful that the defendant is finally being held accountable for the violent crimes he committed nearly two decades ago,” said Attorney General Josh Kaul. “Thank you to everyone who worked to achieve justice in this case.”

According to court documents, Yang followed a 22-year-old woman on a bike path in the Atwood neighborhood on October 15, 2005. He then forced her off the path at knifepoint and assaulted her sexually.

The woman said she thought she was going to die during the encounter.

Yang was arrested in 2023 after a DNA sample taken from him in prison matched the DNA profile from the kit the woman submitted in 2005 immediately after the attack.
