Man sentenced to 12 years in prison for fatal stabbing in Edinburgh countryside

EDINBURG, Texas (ValleyCentral) — A man was convicted Monday in a fatal stabbing in rural Edinburgh.

Jesus Francisco Ramirez was sentenced to 12 years in prison after pleading guilty to the murder of Elias Aguilar, records show.

On April 8, 2022, deputies with the Hidalgo County Sheriff's Office responded to a stabbing in the 6300 block of Allegiant Street in rural Edinburg. When they arrived, they found Aguilar unconscious and injured in the chest.

He was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

As part of his sentence, Ramirez was sentenced to 2.15 years in prison.
