Man sentenced to 10 years in prison for role in fatal crash in central Peoria in 2020

PEORIA, Ill. – A man will spend another decade in prison for a fatal crash in central Peoria in 2020.

The Peoria County State's Attorney's Office said Adrian Gregory was sentenced to 10 years in prison for the crash that killed his girlfriend, Aries Terrell, 34, and injured the driver of the other vehicle involved. He was convicted in March of reckless homicide and aggravated reckless driving.

Prosecutors say Gregory was behind the wheel of a vehicle traveling more than 90 miles per hour on the morning of Nov. 20, 2020, when he crossed into the center turn lane at Rochelle and Reservoir and struck the other vehicle.

The state's attorney's office said Terrell's family said she was a wonderful mother to her four children during the sentencing hearing Thursday and that she treated everyone with love, respect and kindness.

The driver of the other vehicle testified that it took her 18 months to recover from her injuries and that she will never be 100%.

Prosecutors argued it would be an “insult” to allow Gregory to serve his sentence concurrently with the ten he is already serving for an unrelated aggravated battery case.

The court ruled that he would serve his sentences consecutively.
