A Greenville, South Carolina, man is being sent to prison for threatening a federal judge in a handwritten letter, according to Adair F. Boroughs, U.S. Attorney for the District of South Carolina. (Video above: WYFF News 4 morning headlines) Alvin Bernard Parks, 44, of Greenville, was sentenced to seven years in federal prison. Boroughs said that, according to court documents, Parks sent a letter to a U.S. District Court judge specifically appointed for the District of South Carolina. The handwritten letter contained threats to harm the judge. Boroughs said an excerpt of the letter read: “I saw you leave the courthouse several times and plotted revenge.” The letter goes on to say: “You better make sure they lock me up for a good reason, I'm going to kill you or blow up this courthouse.” » The return address on the letter was listed as Alvin Parks with the address of the Greenville County Detention Center, where Parks was being held. “Threats like this endanger our justice system,” Boroughs said. “We remain committed to pursuing unlawful threats against public officials to ensure that these officials can do their jobs without intimidation. » Parks pleaded guilty in February.
