Man rushed to hospital after stabbing during brawl outside pub

A man has been stabbed during a massive brawl outside a pub. Officers were called following reports of a group of people fighting outside the Railway Tavern in Rawtenstall yesterday afternoon.

Lancashire Police said they believed at least one of the fighters was armed with a knife. A 24-year-old man was reportedly injured by a stab wound. He was rushed to hospital and his condition is not believed to be life-threatening.

In a statement, Lancashire Police said: “We are appealing for information and witnesses following a serious assault in Rawtenstall. We were called around 1:25pm yesterday (June 8) to reports of a group of people fighting outside the Railway Tavern. on Bury Road in Rawtenstall.

Detective Inspector Lisa Craddock, from Lancashire Police's East CID, said: “A man suffered serious injuries as a result of this incident, and we are working to find whoever is responsible. An investigation has begun and we are appealing for any information or footage that may assist our enquiries.

“We know it can be worrying to hear about this, and we want to reassure you that we believe this is an isolated incident and there does not appear to be any additional risk to members of the public . We want you to feel safe in your community, you may see an increase in the number of police officers in the area over the coming days, either carrying out investigations or increasing reassurance patrols.
