Man responsible for vehicle thefts in Henry County arrested

HENRY COUNTY, Virginia. – A man responsible for two vehicle thefts in Henry County was arrested Thursday, according to the Henry County Sheriff's Office.

Authorities said that around 9:08 a.m., authorities received a report of a theft of a person stealing a blue 2012 Subaru Abreeza from a Family Dollar, located on Virginia Avenue in Collinsville. At 9:18 a.m., a white 2010 Toyota Prius was reported stolen from Printers Lane in Collinsville.

Witnesses to both incidents gave similar descriptions of the suspect.

We're told around 9:44 a.m. Thursday the Sheriff's Office recovered the stolen Abreeza from the Collinsville Library. While officers were recovering this vehicle, an employee at Auto Tech in Collinsville reported that a suspect matching the description had parked a white Toyota Prius at this location and fled on foot across the street towards an Econo Lodge on Virginia Avenue.

Authorities responded to both scenes and the stolen Prius was located at Auto Tech while the suspect, Deangelo Waller, 42, was in a restricted area of ​​the motel.

He was taken into custody without incident and charged with two counts of grand theft.

He is currently being held without bail at the Henry County Adult Detention Center.

The Crimestoppers program offers rewards of up to $2,500.00 for information related to a crime. The nature of the crime and the substance of the information determine the amount of reward paid.
