Man on bond arrested for burglarizing sheriff's cruisers

Surveillance video was used to identify Samuel Bucey, who was free on bond following a May 29 arrest on an unrelated theft charge.

FRANCONIA, Va. — A man out on bail was arrested for breaking into two out-of-state police cruisers.

On June 8, detectives with the Fugitive Search and Apprehension Unit arrested 39-year-old Samuel Lee Bucey. Police say earlier in the morning, Bucey broke into two Florida sheriff's cruisers and stole police equipment.

The cruisers were located in Springfield, Virginia, in the 6500 block of Loisdale Road and the 6700 block of Commerce Street. Surveillance video was used to identify Samuel Bucey, who was free on bond following a May 29 arrest on an unrelated theft charge.

Bucey also had an outstanding arrest warrant for burglary and is currently being held at the DC Central Detention Center and will subsequently be extradited to Fairfax County. Bucey was charged with grand larceny of a firearm, grand larceny, two counts of felony destruction of property, petit larceny, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession ammunition by a convicted felon.
