Man missing for five months found dead on suspicion of foul play

EDDY COUNTY, New Mexico (KMID/KPEJ) – A man reported missing five months ago from Eddy County was recently found dead.

According to reports, on Friday, May 17, deputies and detectives from the Eddy County Sheriff's Office responded to a remote location near the intersection of Black River Village Road and Bounds Road after the discovery of a human body.


Reports indicate that on Friday and Saturday, medical investigators and detectives searched the site and recovered the human body. After further investigation and an autopsy, the identity was identified as William Lee Kammerer, 23, who was reported missing five months ago on December 4, 2023.

According to Eddy County officials, foul play is suspected and the investigation is ongoing.

Lt. Kane Wyatt wrote: “We have communicated with the family and express our sincere sympathy and condolences for the tragic loss of their loved one. We encourage everyone to follow the family-created Facebook page “Bring Will Home” and share the hashtag #bringwillhome on social media.
