A man who died in a crash at the intersection of Algonquin and Harvest Gate roads in Lake in the Hills has been identified.

McHenry County coroner's officials said toxicology and cause of death for 67-year-old Donald Hampton are still pending.

McHenry County Deputy Coroner Olivia Zednick said where Hampton resided remains unknown.

She added that the matter was still under investigation.

Hampton was driving a black 2024 Kia ​​Forte when he collided with a white BMW X5 around 6:20 a.m. on Thursday, May 30.

Paramedics from the Algonquin/Lake in Hills Fire Protection District were dispatched to the intersection and began providing medical treatment to both drivers before they were transported to Huntley Northwestern Hospital, they said. authorities said.

Authorities said there were no passengers in either vehicle and the crash remains under investigation.

Algonquin Road was closed in both directions for approximately four hours due to the accident.
