Man killed in falling waterfall identified

Police have identified a man who died after falling from rocks at a popular waterfall in Far North Queensland.

Emergency services were called to Isabella Falls in Edmonton, a 20-minute drive from the Cairns CBD, at 4pm on Sunday.

It is understood the 26-year-old was an international tourist visiting the country from Israel.

He was climbing the rocks of the waterfall when he plunged to his death.

Paramedics from Queensland Ambulance performed CPR on the man, but he could not be saved.

This is the third death in less than two years at the famous multi-tiered waterfall.

Christian Laska, 17, died there in December last year, while a 19-year-old woman from Cairns died in May 2022.

The police will prepare a report for the coroner.

His death is not considered suspicious.
