Man killed in Birmingham hit-and-run identified

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — A 62-year-old Birmingham man killed in a hit-and-run was identified Friday morning.

According to the Jefferson County Coroner's Office, Dwight Lemar McCall was struck by a car in the 8300 block of 1st Avenue North early Thursday morning.

Birmingham police officers responding to reports of a person in the area found McCall around 4:50 a.m. He was pronounced dead shortly after 5 a.m.

Birmingham police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the man's death.
