Man killed, child injured in Potomac High School shooting in Maryland – NBC4 Washington

A shooting occurred at Potomac High School in Oxon Hill, Maryland, late Saturday morning, police said.

Prince George's County police confirmed two people were shot. One of these victims died in hospital.

The shooting took place during a youth soccer tournament, held to raise awareness about brain cancer, according to an Instagram post announcing the event.

One of the victims, an adult man, was found in the stands with a gunshot wound. That man was taken to hospital, where he later died.

The other victim is a child whose age has not been communicated. That child was also taken to the hospital, but his injuries were not life-threatening, according to Prince George's County police.

Police are searching for the suspected shooter, who fled the scene after the shooting.

The reason for the shooting is not yet clear.
