Man killed by Metrolink train in Burbank identified

A 28-year-old man who was struck and killed by a Metrolink train in Burbank was identified Tuesday by the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner.

The accident happened around 5:50 a.m. Friday at the Buena Vista Street and Vanowen Street crossing along Metrolink's Ventura County Line, which runs through Burbank to Union Station.

Officers responded to the scene shortly after receiving a report of a pedestrian struck, according to the Burbank Police Department.

“The train, which was heading south at the time, slowed to a stop after the collision. No passengers on the train were injured,” police reported.

The medical examiner identified the victim as David James Betton, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
