Man killed by identified train, suspect eats his leg and shakes him: coroner

The man who was struck and killed by a train in Wasco in late March and whose leg was allegedly eaten by a man has been identified by the Kern County Coroner's Office.

The coroner said that around 8 a.m. March 22, Horacio Ayala-Penaloza, 48, of Wasco, was struck by a train in the 700 block of G Street. He died at the scene.

A 27-year-old man who removed Ayala-Penaloza's leg from the scene was seen by witnesses shortly afterward waving around her leg and allegedly eating it, according to viewer video.

Resendo Tellez was sentenced to a year in prison in early May. Tellez was also accused of bringing drugs into prison.

An autopsy revealed that Ayala-Penaloza's cause of death was multiple blunt force injuries and that the manner of death was an accident.
