Man in custody after fatal stabbing in northern Harris County

Investigators say a 49-year-old man randomly attacked drivers with a kitchen knife, stabbing one person to death.

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas — Authorities said a man was arrested Wednesday after randomly attacking several drivers in northern Harris County.

Officials with the Harris County Constable's Office said the man killed a man and injured a woman.

They said the suspect was standing in the middle of the street stopping drivers while holding a seven-inch-long kitchen knife and a stuffed animal.

“From what we know, they are just motorists driving on the street. They are strangers to him. He doesn't know them, they don't know him. He approaches the car, waves at them get off and when they stop, he approaches the car see what happens, he stabs them,” said Harris County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. » said Sidney Miller.

Authorities said a woman stopped and the suspect stabbed her in the torso. She was able to escape and is expected to survive.

Authorities say the man then stopped another vehicle and stabbed the driver multiple times. He drove home but died before he could enter.

“Unfortunately, he drove home … where he ended up collapsing in the driveway,” Miller said.

He was dead when authorities arrived.

Officials said when deputies showed up, they told the suspect to put down his gun, but he wouldn't listen. That's when they say they used a Taser to subdue him and take him into custody. They said he didn't live in the area but was staying with his aunt.
