The officer was taken to a hospital in stable condition and was later released, KMOV reported.

“Obviously it happened to one of our own, which unfortunately happens,” Lt. Brock Styninger of the Nashville Police Department told Fox 2. “You know, we're human beings too. happened to one of us, but obviously our next concern besides the officer and his injuries is to take the suspect into custody peacefully and not let him escape to allow someone to other than being put in danger in a hostage situation or something like that. Fortunately, that didn't happen.

According to KMOV, the Nashville Police Department said the suspect, a man in his 30s, is in custody at the Washington County Jail and could face several charges.
