Man identified in fatal Fall River boat crash

FALL RIVER, Mass. (WLNE) — A man who died yesterday during a boat trip on the Taunton River has been identified.

Ronald Botelho, 73, was identified by the Bristol County District Attorney's Office.

He died after trying to free the propeller of his boat which was stuck in a rope.

As the boat began to take on water, he and his brother, who was also on board, found themselves in the water.

Botelho's brother managed to grab a flotation device, while Botelho himself was unable to stay afloat.

First responders were able to get him out of the water and he was transported to Sainte-Anne hospital where he would die from his injuries.
