Man hospitalized after stabbing Saturday, Saint John police say

Police said a man was hospitalized after being stabbed Saturday afternoon in the Waterloo Village area.

Saint John police said they responded to a report of a stabbing on Cliff Street shortly after 4:45 p.m. Saturday, according to a news release issued Monday.

Police said a 47-year-old man “sustained serious injuries” and was transported to Saint John Regional Hospital for treatment, where he was later released. No arrests have yet been made in this incident, according to police.

According to the release, the Saint John Police Service's forensic identification unit was on scene to investigate, but detectives believe this is an “isolated incident.”

Police are searching for dash cam or surveillance footage in the area and have asked anyone with information to contact the Saint John Police Service at 1-506-648-3333, or submit information anonymously via Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
