Man found shot near bus stop in Kansas City, Missouri

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Police are investigating a deadly shooting at a bus stop in Kansas City, Mo., where a man was killed Tuesday afternoon.

According to the Kansas City Police Department, shortly after 1 p.m., officers were dispatched to the intersection of East 51st Street and Prospect Avenue, less than a block west of Highway 71.


After arriving on scene, officers said they saw a man lying on the sidewalk near a bus stop with a gunshot wound.

Emergency services were called to the scene and took the man to hospital where he died from his injuries.

KCPD said the cause of the shooting is currently unknown and no suspects are in custody. However, detectives have begun taking statements from witnesses and are investigating the case as a homicide.
