Man fatally struck by car near Otay Valley Regional Park last week identified

Authorities have publicly identified a 66-year-old man who was fatally struck by a car last week while riding his bicycle along the 805 near Otay Valley Regional Park.

Victor Fields of San Diego was driving on the south side shoulder of 805 when he was struck.

He was on the Palm Avenue off-ramp when a Toyota sedan swerved for unknown reasons and struck him shortly after 7:30 p.m. on May 29, according to the San Diego County medical examiner's office.

Fields died at the scene of the crash, the agency reported. The incident is being investigated as an accident.
