Man dies in Minneapolis fire

MINNEAPOLIS — The cause of a fire that claimed the life of an elderly man at a Minneapolis home is under investigation.

Minneapolis Fire Department crews first responded to a house fire in the 4800 block of 12th Avenue South shortly after noon Friday.

When crews arrived, they found heavy smoke coming from the home's first floor chimney, according to an MFD news release.

Crews forced entry and searched the home where they found a man who was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The fire spread to two floors of the house and the roof, said MPD, which is still on scene trying to put out the fire.
