A 25-year-old Allentown man was fatally shot Saturday evening in a city park.

Allentown police responded around 6:30 p.m. to the 900 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Drive for a report of a shooting, according to Capt. Christopher Diehl. This is the location of Fountain Park.

When police arrived, they found the man had been shot, Diehl said. The man was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after 7:15 p.m., according to a news release from Lehigh County Coroner Daniel Buglio.

Photos from the scene showed police investigating around the park's basketball court, which was surrounded by police tape.

Buglio determined the manner of the fatal homicide. An autopsy will be completed Monday, according to the release.

The victim was identified and his family was notified; However, Buglio declined to release the name Saturday to allow the family to grieve privately.

The shooting remains under investigation by Allentown police, the Lehigh County Prosecutor's Office Homicide Task Force and the coroner's office.
