Man dies and woman injured after stabbing by suspect who reported them in N. Harris County

HARRIS COUNTY, TX – A man is in custody after authorities say he stabbed two people after flagging them down as they drove by in North Harris County. One of the two victims died.

The Harris County Sheriff's Office said it happened in the 2500 block of Sandlewood Trail Lane around 5:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Police were called to the scene by a person who said a man had stabbed a passing motorist.

Authorities arrived and found a 40-year-old man standing outside holding a knife and a stuffed animal.

The officers approached the man and tried to reason with him and calm him down, but he would not obey.

The police used a Taser and were able to arrest him.

According to authorities on site, the man stabbed two people after flagging them down as they passed by. The first victim, a woman, was stabbed but was able to escape. Another person, a man, was also stabbed. He was able to drive away and return to his house before collapsing in the driveway.

The man's family called emergency medical services, but he was pronounced dead on scene when they arrived.

Law enforcement says the suspect does not live in the area and is reportedly visiting a family member. He is also said to have a mental illness.

Authorities are seeking to interview witnesses as well as find any video surveillance and will send the information to the Harris County District Attorney's Office to determine if charges will be filed.
