Man dies after stabbing in West Springfield

WEST SPRINGFIELD — A man was pronounced dead after a stabbing incident at the intersection of Amostown Road and Kings Road, officials said Saturday.

The West Springfield Police Department reported that officers were dispatched to the scene around 10 p.m. Friday following a report that a man had been stabbed.

Police arrived a few minutes later, found the victim and immediately administered CPR and first aid.

The victim was quickly transported to Baystate Medical Center for urgent care.

Despite the efforts of medical staff, he was later pronounced dead.

The investigation is currently being conducted by the West Springfield Police Detective Bureau, in conjunction with the Mass State Police Detective Unit assigned to the Hampden County District Attorney's Office.

Authorities stressed there was no ongoing threat to the community and reassured the public that more information would be provided as the investigation progresses.
