Man dies after shooting in Pittsburgh's Carrick neighborhood

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) — A man died Thursday after a shooting at a rental home in Pittsburgh's Carrick neighborhood.

Pittsburgh police said officers went to Wynoka Street at Brownsville Road shortly before noon after a man called 911 saying he had been shot.

When first responders arrived on scene, they found a man in his 20s on the first floor of the home with a gunshot wound to the chest. Police said he was taken to hospital in critical condition. He later died, Pittsburgh Public Safety said on social media. The victim has not been identified.

Pittsburgh Public Safety said Breanna Didolce, 23, was charged with criminal homicide and tampering with evidence in connection with the case.

Police said they did not know how many people lived in the rental home, which includes several private rooms with a common area.

“We only have a few audible witnesses at this time. They heard one gunshot, and that's it,” said Jeff Abraham with Pittsburgh police.

The Mobile Homicide Unit processed the scene and detectives from the Violent Crimes Unit are leading the investigation.

Off camera, some neighbors said they knew nothing about what happened until police arrived.

The next door neighbor said she heard a noise but didn't know if it was a gun or not. Once she saw the flashing lights, she knew something was wrong. Detectives are trying to use some of what neighbors heard to piece it all together.

“We are not sure of any suspicious information at this time. The call was made by the man who was shot,” Abraham said.

In the afternoon, detectives were in and out of the home after obtaining a search warrant. The police are continuing their investigation. If you know anything that could help their investigation, you are encouraged to call them.
