Man demands $300,000 ransom after alleged kidnapping and rape

A man who allegedly drugged and kidnapped a woman, photographing himself sexually assaulting her before attempting to extort a $300,000 ransom for the images, has been extradited from Victoria to New South Wales.

The 29-year-old is due to appear in court in Sydney on Saturday after being arrested in Oakleigh East, Victoria, on Thursday.

Police will allege he led a group of men who forced a 36-year-old woman into a car in Epping, in Sydney's northwest, in April.

She was taken to hospital for treatment the following day after telling police investigating her abduction that she had been drugged and sexually assaulted.

Detectives found her clothes, along with drugs and bonds believed to have been used in the alleged sexual assault, in the trash can of a home in Eastwood, not far from where the woman was abducted.

The items were taken for forensic examination.

The 29-year-old man extradited from Victoria on Friday has been charged with serious sexual assault in company and deprivation of liberty, keeping in company with intent to obtain ransom causing actual bodily harm, using an intoxicant to commit a criminal act and knowingly directing activities. of a criminal group.

He also faces charges for allegedly recording the alleged sexual assault and threatening to release the footage, with police saying he demanded a $300,000 ransom.

The man is due to appear in Parramatta Bail Court on Saturday.
