Man dead after shooting outside hotel in northeast Memphis | News

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – A man was killed and two people were arrested after a shooting in northeast Memphis, police said.

According to the Memphis Police Department (MPD), officers responded around 4:30 p.m. to a shooting in the 5200 block of Summer Avenue and found a man had been shot.

He was rushed to the hospital in critical condition and later died, police said.

MPD also said two people were arrested in connection with the shooting.

Police did not release further details.

FOX13 arrived on scene and saw two people handcuffed and being loaded into police cars at the Elite Hotel, located on the same block where the shooting took place.

The police scene covered the front of a nearby Mexican restaurant, the front of the Elite Hotel and part of Summer Avenue. Witnesses told FOX13 they saw three people get out of a white car with no license plates and open fire on a man who also had a gun.

In exclusive surveillance video obtained by FOX13 from a nearby business, the shooter appears to steal the man's gun before leaving.
