Man dead after shooting in Parkway Village, police say | News

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – A man is dead after a shooting in Parkway Village, according to the Memphis Police Department (MPD).

Police are still investigating the cause of the shooting which occurred around 4 p.m. this afternoon.

“It’s dangerous everywhere, especially here in Memphis,” is what one community member told me after hearing about the shooting at that Exon on Getwell and American Way.

When MPD arrived, one person had been shot and was in critical condition.

Kendrick Richmond said going to a usual place like a gas station is no longer safe.

“So we have to kind of watch our surroundings when we go out here, get out. Do what you need to do quickly. Get in, lock your doors and go home,” Richmond said.

Memphis police later confirmed the victim had died.

And now MPD has three people in custody.

Richmond said the shootings are a reminder to stay vigilant.

“I don't think it's just on this side of town or in a particular neighborhood or any neighborhood in town, crime is everywhere in Memphis, you just have to watch your surroundings,” he said. Richmond said.

FOX13 is still seeking information on the suspects involved and what led to the shooting.
