Man crashes into Beaumont police patrol vehicles

Police said the driver crashed into the back of the first patrol vehicle, pushing it toward a second patrol unit.

BEAUMONT, Texas — A man was arrested for drunk driving after crashing into Beaumont police patrol vehicles Friday evening.

Two Beaumont police patrol vehicles were parked with their directional lights activated in the 2200 block of Avenue C around 10:12 p.m.

The flashing yellow indicators on the back of the emergency light bar were activated because officers were responding to a call at a nearby residence.

Police said the driver of the vehicle, identified as Jamie Castillo, 41, of Beaumont, crashed into the back of the first patrol vehicle, pushing it into the second patrol car.

After officers investigated the crash, Castillo was arrested for drunk driving.

He was taken to a nearby hospital for medical examination before being booked into the Jefferson County Correctional Facility.

No officers were injured.
