Man charged with second-degree murder after woman found in home with multiple stab wounds

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — A 37-year-old man has been charged with second-degree murder after a woman was found with knife wounds in a Chesterfield home and later died.

At 8:20 p.m. on Sunday, June 30, officers with the Chesterfield County Police Department were called to the 6400 block of Kings Crest Court for a disturbance.

When officers arrived, they found Kelli S. Patel, 48, in her home with multiple stab wounds. She was taken to a local hospital, where police said she died from her injuries.

Police say Noell J. Brandon, 37, was arrested and charged with second-degree murder and unlawful stabbing in connection with Patel's death.

Brandon, who also lived in the house, was present when police arrived and was apprehended at that time. Brandon and Patel knew each other.

Police said Brandon and Patel were not married or in a relationship.

Police continue to investigate the stabbing.
