Man charged with murder for stabbing behind Tampa Wendy's: TPD

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — Tampa police have arrested a man accused of killing a man behind a Wendy's on Hillsborough Avenue earlier this month.

Eddy Caron, 57, stabbed a 52-year-old man to death on June 12 near the intersection of North 15th Street and Hillsborough Avenue, according to a statement from the Tampa Police Department.

A witness in the Wendy's parking lot told police he saw the victim and suspect shortly before the incident. Detectives said security footage showed Caron entering a nearby convenience store, purchasing a beer and walking to a fenced-in area behind the Wendy's.

The victim was found dead behind the restaurant, according to TPD. Another witness reportedly told police that Caron left the scene on a “distinctive” bicycle with deer antlers attached to the handlebars.

Police said a beer can bearing Caron's DNA linked him to a previous incident and that his backpack and bicycle matched what was captured on security cameras and described by witnesses.

“We hope this arrest provides some closure for the victim's family,” Tampa Police Chief Lee Bercaw said in a statement. “This successful investigation is a testament to the exceptional work of our detectives who gathered the evidence, identified the suspect and quickly took him into custody.”

Caron was arrested Saturday and charged with first-degree murder.
