Man charged with murder after stabbing, Davie County deputies say

DAVIE COUNTY, North Carolina — A man has been arrested and charged with murder following a fatal late-night stabbing in Mocksville, according to Davie County Sheriff's Office deputies.

On Friday around 11:56 p.m., deputies said they were dispatched to the 200 block of Gwyn Street for reports of a stabbing.

When authorities arrived, they said they found a man, later identified as Mark Randall Dukes, 62, suffering from multiple stab wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Deputies said the suspect, identified as Danny Earl Carter, 32, left the residence on foot but was arrested in Mocksville around 9 a.m. Saturday. He was charged with murder.

Deputies said Carter and Dukes knew each other and may have been involved in a disturbance at the time of the stabbing.
