Man charged with drug, gun charges after shooting at Baton Rouge home

BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — An investigation into a Saturday, May 25 shooting ended with the arrest of a Baton Rouge man on gun and drug charges.

Darryl Williams, 44, was charged with three counts of possession/distribution of schedule II manufacture, one count of possession of a firearm or carrying a concealed weapon by a person convicted of certain crimes, one count of unlawfully carrying a weapon containing a controlled dangerous substance and one count of indictment. possession of drug paraphernalia.


Upon arrival, the East Baton Rouge Sheriff's Office began an investigation into the shooting.

According to EBRSO, several suspects in a car arrived at a home in the 4300 block of Kerrit Drive with handguns and rifles before shooting at the home and people in front of it.

Several suspects reportedly left the scene either in this vehicle or on foot.

A detective searched for a vehicle covered in spray paint and found video of the suspect vehicle, according to EBRSO.

Deputies said a search of the shooting scene turned up spent shell casings and live ammunition. They collected the names and locations of the suspects accused of participating in the shooting.

A shooting victim found and identified the suspect vehicle used in the shooting at a home in the 4800 block of Hammond Street, EBRSO said. Officers conducted a security search of the home and found “a shell casing on a side table in the living room of the residence,” according to the affidavit.

Investigators said it matched shell casings found at the scene of the shooting and that a live round was found in the suspect vehicle.

A search warrant was obtained and a search was conducted of the Hammond Street home.

EBRSO found drug paraphernalia, “28.0 grams of suspected powder cocaine, 12.75 grams of suspected powder MDMA, and a bottle of suspected Adderall pills,” according to the affidavit. They also found a gun in the house.

Another person was in the house at the time and said “everything in the residence belonged to” Williams, EBRSO said.

The Baton Rouge man was arrested Sunday, May 26, and booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison. He remains in jail on $25,500 bail.
