Man charged with attempted murder after stabbing man in North Yorkshire

A man has been charged with attempted murder after a knife attack in North Yorkshire.

County police say thatPolice investigating a knife attack in Northallerton on Tuesday (July 2) have charged a A 57-year-old man charged with attempted murder has been remanded in custody and will appear before magistrates this morning (July 5).

Shortly after 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, officers responded to a report that a person had been stabbed with a needle on Zetland Street.

The victim suffered serious injuries but responded well to treatment at the hospital and is expected to make a full recovery.

Detective Inspector Louise Pegg of Hambleton CID said: “This is a very serious incident which has understandably caused concern to residents of Northallerton and the surrounding communities. I am pleased that we have now been able to charge a suspect in this case and our investigation will continue.

“I would like to thank the local community for their initial response to this incident and for their cooperation as we carried out investigations in the immediate aftermath.

“It is important to stress that we are treating this as an isolated incident and I would urge anyone with concerns to speak to officers on patrol or to come to the reception desk at our police headquarters in Northallerton town centre.”
