Man charged with attempted murder after needle stabbing as police issue update

A man has been charged with attempted murder following a stabbing involving a needle, as police issue an update about the victim's condition.

At just after 2.30pm on Tuesday (July 2), police responded to a report that a person had been stabbed with a needle on Zetland Street in Northallerton.

Officers attended and a 57-year-old man was arrested in connection with the incident.

A police cordon was in place for several hours – with numerous emergency service vehicles on the scene.

The victim suffered serious injuries but responded well to treatment in hospital. He is expected to make a full recovery.

Police have now confirmed that the 57-year-old man who was initially arrested has been charged with attempted murder.

He is remanded in custody and will appear before magistrates on Friday (July 5).

Detective Inspector Louise Pegg from Hambleton CID commented: “This was a very serious incident that has understandably concerned people in Northallerton and the surrounding communities.
