Man charged with attempted murder after Baton Rouge shooting

BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – A man has been arrested after a recent shooting investigation by the Baton Rouge Police Department.

Anthony Williams, 27, of Baton Rouge, was charged with one count of attempted second-degree murder and one count of unlawful use of weapons and/or dangerous instruments.


The Baton Rouge Police Department responded around 8:06 p.m. to the 1100 block of Spanish Town Road on Thursday, June 13, where officers found “numerous spent shell casings and broken glass in the parking lot” of Elysian Apartments, according to the affidavit.

Police found someone who had been shot in the back. They were transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The person who was shot said two men approached him as he was unloading his vehicle.

He saw that one of the men had a gun in his pants, according to BRPD. That shooting victim said the man gave the gun to Williams who fired one shot at the vehicle. The person hit reportedly returned fire and left the complex in their vehicle.

The shooting victim said Williams fired multiple shots at his vehicle as he left the complex.

Williams was booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on Friday, June 14.

He remains in jail on $250,000 bail. EBRSO said he must sign a protection order before being released and will have to obtain a GPS monitor from Criminal Justice Solutions.
