Man charged in fatal shooting at Kansas City Northland apartment

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A 31-year-old Kansas City, Missouri, man is charged in connection with a deadly shooting at a Northland apartment Wednesday morning.

Clay County prosecutors have charged Jaymes D. Henderson with first-degree murder, armed criminal action and unlawful possession of a firearm.


Kansas City police officers responded to the call shooting shortly after 6 a.m. at N. Hickory Street and NW 80th Terracenear the intersection of NW Barry Road and Highway 169.

At the scene, officers found a man who had been shot and was unresponsive inside the apartment. He was later identified as Christopher Henderson, 27.

Police said the shooting happened following some sort of interaction with another person inside the apartment.

After attempting to render aid at the scene, emergency services took Christopher Henderson to hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Jaymes Henderson was found nearby and taken into custody for questioning. He was held on $1 million bail.
