Man charged after stabbing in Bristol city center

A 37-year-old man has been charged with intentionally causing grievous bodily harm after a stabbing in Bristol city centre.

Ian McInally, of Talbot Avenue, was also charged with possessing a knife in a public place.

Avon and Somerset Police said a man in his 40s was found with stab wounds in Bond Street at 11.30am BST on Tuesday.

He was taken to hospital and remains in a critical but stable condition, the force added.

Mr McInally, who remains in custody, is due to appear at Bristol Magistrates' Court on Wednesday.

The BBC understands a purge kit was used to help the man who was attacked.
