Man charged after argument leads to shooting in East Nashville, Tennessee

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — A man has been charged with attempted criminal homicide following an argument that turned violent early Saturday morning in East Nashville.

According to the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department (MNPD), officers were responding to another call in the area when they heard approximately four to five gunshots coming from the parking lot of a business on the block. 900 block of Woodland Street, shortly after 1 a.m. Saturday. June 1.

Authorities said officers rushed to the parking lot and found a 29-year-old man suffering from non-critical injuries to his legs.

The suspect – identified as Dequan Gray, 30 – was quickly taken into custody, police said. On site, the police learned that the men were allegedly involved in an argument which resulted in gunshots.

Two firearms, including one belonging to the victim, were found at the scene. MNPD said Gray was charged with attempted criminal homicide, reckless endangerment, vandalism and two felony firearm charges.

He remains jailed on $165,000 bail, booking records show.
