Man arrested, woman safe following alleged kidnapping in Brampton and assault investigation

A man wanted in connection with an assault and false imprisonment investigation in Brampton has been arrested and a female victim has been found safe, police said.

The incident happened Sunday on Goderich Drive, near Mississauga and Mayfield roads.

Peel Regional Police (PRP) say they were called to the area around 12:20 a.m.

In a press release, they said video footage of the incident “appears to show a woman being assaulted by a man and then forcefully placed in a vehicle which left the area before police arrived.”

Two videos were released as investigators from the PRP 22nd Division and the Bureau of Criminal Investigation appealed for the public's help in locating and identifying a man and woman believed to be involved.

Video shows a woman being picked up by a man and carried to the driver's side of a dark-colored sedan. The video appears to show the man moving her to the passenger side or back seat of the vehicle, before getting into the vehicle himself.

In a second video released by police, the same woman can be seen walking on the sidewalk toward the same man's vehicle before he gets out and walks toward the sidewalk. She turns into the aisle and raises her arm toward the man, who appears to wave at her before turning in the other direction.

She was described by police as black, of medium build and with hair braided in a ponytail. Police say the woman was wearing a camouflage or black and white tracksuit at the time of the incident.

A second person believed to be involved was described as a thin, black man with twisted or braided hair, and was seen wearing a red t-shirt with a white graphic on it and blue jeans.
