Man arrested over road rage incident involving gunshots in Enfield

ENFIELD, Conn. (WWLP) – A road rage incident in Enfield Wednesday escalated into gunfire, leading to the arrest of a local man.

Enfield Police received a report at 11:54 p.m. of a confrontation on Freshwater Boulevard, where a shot was fired. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.


After the incident, police located the suspect on Ganny Terrace and conducted a “high-risk” traffic stop. The suspect, identified as 44, Pierre Smario III of Enfield, was taken into custody.

Smario faces multiple charges, including:

  • Criminal Attempt to Commit First Degree Assault
  • Unlawful discharge of a firearm, violation of a restraining order (two counts)
  • Possession of a firearm without a license
  • Criminal possession of a firearm
  • Criminal mischief
  • First degree threat
  • Weapons in a motor vehicle

Enfield police confirmed that Smario is being held on $1 million bail. He is expected to appear in GA-14 court on Friday morning.
